What if that powerful feeling of déjà vu wasn’t an illusion?
Seven Londoners meet at a self-help group for sufferers of extreme déjà vu. Each believes they are stuck in unending time loops, ranging from several days to seven years long. Therapist Luisa Delmonico thinks they are deluded, until she receives a message from scientist Kurt Sveinsson whose mouse Hector seems to know every maze it’s dropped into impossibly well.
Meet the time loopers:
Clarke, repeatedly stabbed by a gang member, before jumping back to the weeks before his murder…
Maxine, racing to investigate the death of her police partner before she is yanked back in time…
Gurdip, a taxi driver, who wins the lottery, but has no time to spend it…
Hugo, reliving the seven years of his failing marriage over and over…
Melinda, 17, struggling with her feelings for co-worker Karen…
Jade, dealing with chronic insomnia and her crumbling executive career…
Brian, a paranoid conspiracy theorist, who might just be right…
Meanwhile, suavely sinister SIS operative Cornelius Templeton has planted a mole within the group.
“A fascinating Chinese puzzle box of a novel, chilling and at times heartwarming, that raises questions of fate, free will and how we live in the finitude of time.” – Guy Ducker, Tales From the Cutting Room Floor blog.
“Gavin Boyter’s fiction brings the reader into another place and time. It is a rare writer who can make a situation far away seem real and relatable.” – Lisa C. Taylor, Wordpeace Fiction Editor
“Boyter has a real gift for characterisation. In amazingly few words, he’s able to build a world of quirky characters and settings, which the reader can’t help being drawn into.” – Katherine Emily, Co-Founder, Input/Output Enterprises.
Okay, it’s a novel by your bookseller, but indulge me… and give it a go!
