Events
In the coming months we’ll be launching our series of talks, performances, workshops and even a book-themed alternative to speed dating. Book tickets below, and sign up to our newsletter for more information.
NB: At the moment our performance space is not wheelchair accessible. We are enquiring about ways to change this. Apologies for now.
From 11th to 29th October, write and read a 500 to 700 word supernatural story in our very own Spooky Book Nook.
Book a slot to read and we will video your performance, edit it and make it available to you via a private link. The best three stories will be featured on this website (with your permission). The very best of them will be awarded a £25 Best of Times voucher to use on any books in-store.
The winner will also be invited to read their tale in person on our Halloween Storytelling night on Friday 30th October.
Below are the available slots. Simply book one and turn up five minutes before the appointed time.
Book your 20 minute slot below.
During spooky season, why should the kids have all the fun?
Join us for an evening of dark tales, horror, the uncanny, and the supernatural!
Read a classic tale, or bring one of your own. Open mic slots are available for 8 readers to terrify the crowd for up to ten minutes. Stories should not be longer than 1000 words.
Whether its Lovecraftian terror, Jamesian apparitions, or Feminist horror, this is your chance to celebrate the scariest of all seasons amongst likeminded ghouls.
This is not an evening for the faint of heart… but costumes are welcome! Tickets are free but do book as space is limited. Friday 30th October 7pm - 9pm (Doors at 6:30pm)
*by adult, we would include anyone who might attend an 18-rated horror film.
